The Tokyo District Court ruled in favor of 11 manga artists in a copyright infringement lawsuit involving two Japanese website owners that reportedly scanned 45 manga titles. The court awarded ¥20.32 million (about US$178,000) to the 11 manga artists. Compensation was calculated between legal fees and 35% of the average price of a manga volume (¥300, or US$2.60), multiplied by the number of pageviews.
