Aniplex announced A-1 Pictures will be adapting the Persona 3 RPG on the PlayStation 2 console into an anime series titled Persona -trinity soul-, scheduled to debut in January 2008. The anime plot and storyline will be set a decade after the game’s setting.
A live action drama adaptation of the Honey and Clover manga is in production and is scheduled to premiere on Japanese television January 8, 2008. 15 year old Riko Narumi will take the roll as Hagumi and Tōma Ikuta, 23, will play Yuuta.

ADV Films is now streaming the first episode of the new anime Venus Versus Virus on their website. The first North American DVD of the series ships on November 13 and The Anime Network will air the series beginning November 16 on its Video-on-Demand service.
Publisher Iwasaki Shoten announced a new children’s anime special of the Pénélope picture books by Georg Hallensleben will air on Japan’s NHK-Educational television network on December 15 and 22 at 5:40 pm. The animated special, entitled Pénélope’s Christmas Party, will be a five minute short.
Capcom Entertainment’s February 5, 2008 release of the Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition videogame on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will include a bonus DVD including the first four episodes of the Devil May Cry anime. The DVD will also be released separately from ADV Films on the same date.

Gonzo and Nitroplus announced they are collaborating the production of the new anime project BLASSREITER -genetic-, directed by Ichiro Itano (Battle Royal High School, GANTZ). Niθ and Naoyuki Onda (GANTZ) will be working on the character designs, and Yasuko Kobayshi (Claymore) and Gen Urobuchi will be writing the scripts. A preview manga will be released in the January 2008 issue of Champion Red, written by Noboru Kimura (My-HiME) and illustrated by Shū Hirose.
The December 7-9 New York Anime Festival announced it will be screening the anime films One Piece: Episode of Alabaster and CLAMP’s double feature of Tsubasa and XXXHolic: The Movie.
ADV Films is hosting a trailer for The Wallflower anime series. The first North American DVD ships on December 18.
A Lucky Star promotional video on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya vol. 4 DVD states “coming soon from Kadokawa Pictures USA and Bandai Entertainment Inc.” No official announcement of the North American distribution of Lucky Star has been made.

Atari reported in late October that FUNimation delivered a termination notice for Atari’s two Dragonball Z software (video game) licenses. Funimation claims Atari has breached the license agreements and is demanding Dragonball Z video game distribution to cease immediately. It is currently unclear if this dispute will negatively effect the North American release of Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Sparking! METEOR 3) on the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 2.
Bandai America announced it has once again acquired the license for Dragonball Z toy production and distribution and plans to begin releasing new DBZ toys in Spring 2008.
FUNimation has announced it has acquired the license to the Ghost Hunt anime series. The company plans to begin releasing the 25-episode series on DVD in Fall of 2008.

Viz Media announced its December 2007 (on sale November 6) issue of Shonen Jump will be its largest ever, totaling 416 pages. The issue features the conclusion to the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto “Pilot” one-shot. Full press release after the jump!

North American publisher Vertical has announced it will release the entire Black Jack manga series by Osamu Tezuka. The manga was regularly serialized in the Weekly Shounen Champion Magazine from 1973 to 1979.
The US Sci Fi network will preempt its current AniMonday schedule to air Karas the Revelation on November 5, Street Fighter Alpha: Generations on November 19, and Black Jack The Movie on November 26th. Perfect Blue will then air in the December 10th timeslot, and Blood: The Last Vampire on December 17. The AniMonday timeslots for November 12th, December 3rd, 24th, and 31st will be preempted for the Tin Man mini-series and Holiday marathons.
The Prince of Tennis Project will host a 100-Character Song Concert on March 16 to promote its third Prince of Tennis video series. The event will be held at the Pacifico Yokohama National Hall near Tokyo and attendance will be decided via raffle. Voice actor of Ryoma Echizen, Junko Minagawa, is scheduled to make a guest appearance.
Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace January 2008 issue will debut the Lucky Star spinoff, Lucky Star: Pocket Travelers, as well as the manga adaptation of Sora o Tobu, Mitsu no HoHo.
Japan’s Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced the production of Biohazrd: Degeneration, a computer-graphic anime film based on the Biohazard (Resident Evil) franchise.
FanimeCon announced the voice actor Hidenobu Kiuchi will be present at the May 23-26 San Jose convention as their first Guest of Honor. Kiuchi’s notable casting rolls include Kenzou Tenma in Monster and Hei from Darker than Black.
