The official website for the 2008 live action film adaptation of the Sakigake! Otoko Juku manga (Akira Miyashita) is now online in both Japanese and English languages.
The 3-minute anime-style opening for the PSP release of Yggdra Union has been posted on the game’s official website, in the ‘Movie’ section.
The official Japanese homepage for the Kurenai anime television series is now open.
Toei Animation opened an official Japanese website for the two upcoming Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo special episodes. The first hour-long episode will air on November 12, with the second episode airing on November 19.
The live action film adaptation of the Sundome manga (Kazuto Okada) will debut in Japan on November 20th. The manga is expected to begin releasing in North America by Yen Press in January 2008.

Shueisha has announced Ryu Fujisaki (Houshin Engi, Psycho+) will adapt Fuyumi Ono’s Shiki fantasy-horror novels into a manga, to be serialized in the second issue (January 2008) of Shueisha’s new Jump Square manga magazine.

Bandai Visual’s January 25, 2008 Blu-ray release of the Yukikaze box set in Japan will feature optional English subtitles and will be playable on North American Blu-ray players. This may mark the beginning of mass consumer-importation of Japanese anime releases; many Japanese anime companies restrict the release dates of North American releases in an attempt to prevent Japanese citizens from importing those often much cheaper DVDs. This Yukikaze box set release will retail for ¥26,040 (about US$225) and contain a 20-page information booklet, a 200-page art book, and a die-cast Mave fighter model.

Washington State Young Adult Review Group, an organization mainly consisting of librarians, has nominated volume 1 of Death Note for its 2008 Evergreen Young Adult Book Award. The organization and award is designed to promote literature among youths in Washington, allowing any student from grades 7 to 12 to vote for the award winner.
Dark Horse announced it will cease monthly issue distribution of Hiroaki Samura’s Blade of the Immortal manga in the US as of issue 131 (on sale November 7th). They will however continue releasing it in a graphic novel format.
Two Japanese television commercials promoting the new Dragonball Z Sparking! METEOR (Budokai Tenkaichi 3) have been posted online, showcasing the battle system and playable characters. The game was released on the PS2 and Wii in Japan on October 4, with a North American shipment date of November 13, 2007.

Hayao Miyazaki and a group of deforestation protesters have reportedly raised ¥73 million (about US $630,000) for the city of Higashimurayama in an attempt to preserve part of a local forest, dubbed “Totoro’s Forest.”
A.D. Vision laid off 13 staff members earlier this month in a small restructuring, stating it as “a reflection of our priorities for the coming year.” The layoffs occurred in various departments, with several new people being hired.
