  • Bleach DVD #6 Bleach DVD #6 is the beginning to one of the best story arcs in anime I have ever seen. Unlike most shounen anime, fights in the Bleach Soul Society arc are fast-paced, loaded with substance and never dull.

    Hikaru no Go DVD #10 This is a perfect example of an anime I've continuously put off to the side for later, and yet when i finally get aroudn to it I fall in love with the series and beat myself up for not viewing it earlier!

    Naruto the Movie DVD The latest mission for our favorite ninja team? Protect and escort a spoiled actress to her next film set. Oh, and keep her from running away of course!

    Ping Pong DVD Ping Pong is a great film that blew away all my expectations and completely changed my negative view towards live actions movies. The story of friendship development through competition is superb. This is a must-see.

A few images of the upcoming Maple Story anime characters have been made available at 4Gamer.

Animate.tv is streaming the Air movie (2004). The video has is in Japanese language and split into three parts; Microsoft Windows and a recent version of Windows Media Player are required.

One Piece movie 9 has been announced and will open in theaters March 2008. The official movie’s website is hosting both a trailer and promotional video.

Late this year, Sony Pictures International Animax channel will debut on DStv in South Africa and other neighboring countires.

Sidus Corporation, a large film production company in South Korea, will be giving over $20 million (US) in capital and “content” to ImaginAsian Entertainment. This is expected to expand ImaginAsian’s production and distribution services, as well as increase their share in the cable, DVD, theatrical, and gaming markets. This increase in capitol is expected to push more media into the North American markets as well.

MPD Psycho has moved to the Comic Charge magazine and debuted in the current issue (11). The series was originally running in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shounen Ace.

Rumors have been flying in regards to a Genshiken-only doujin convention scheduled to commence on May 5, 2008 at the Taitou Kumin Kaikan building in Asakusa.

The doujinshi group 07th Expansion’s PC game Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When the Black-Tailed Gulls Cry) reportedly sold out within the first thirty minutes of Comiket 72. This is the third part of the group’s Higurashi no Naku Koroni (When They Cry) PC game series which first debuted in 2002 at Comiket 62.

Kadokawa Shoten announced it will begin publishing a new bi-monthly manga information magazine titled Kerokero Ace in Japan on October 26. The magazine will contain articles regarding manga, toys and games.

Shoji Kawamori, the co-creator of the Macross series, announced that the highly anticipated new Macross anime will be titled Macross F, for Macross Frontier. The series will be directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi, character designs by Mikan Ehime and Yuichi Takahashi and Yoko Kanno will compose the musical score.

The Keitai Shoujo website announced that the anime series Keitai Shoujo has been adapted into a live action straight-to-television drama, and will air October 23rd.

A live action adaptation of Ajiko Kojima Tonari no 801-chan manga has been produced and will go on sale in a straight-to-DVD release in Japan on the 5th of September.

The Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) manga will see a third and final live action film. This final film will be screened in Japanese movie theaters in the summer of 2008.

Paramount Home Video has announced they will be releasing the North American DVD of the Casshern live action film on October 16.

The Genshiken second season trailer that was shown at Comiket 72 has been leaked to the wonderful lands of YouTube.

The Aquarion homepage has a streaming trailer of the movie, which is scheduled to debut in Japanese theaters on September 22nd.

A trailer of the short film Kafka Inaka Isha (Franz Kafka The Country Doctor) is currently being hosted by the Shochiku Films website.

A new trailer for the upcoming (October) anime Sketchbook ~full color’S~ is up on the series’ website.

Additional animated footage of the television movie Miyori no Mori has been released by Fuji TV.

The amount of live-action movies being announced recently has increased dramatically in recent weeks. PAL Entertainment has confirmed plans for a live-action theatrical film of the 1967 novella and 1988 anime Grave of the Fireflies. The movie will begin filming next month, directed by Taro Hyugaji and is scheduled for a summer 2008 release. Grave of the Fireflies has seen one other live-action movie, that was released straight to television in 2005.

A group of otaku have created an anime petition once again, but this time it’s slightly different. They are attempting to gain enough signatures in an attempt to stop production on the When They Cry live-action movie. Reasons or concerns behind this petition have yet to be confirmed.

The second season of Gunslinger Girl has been officially confirmed in the October issue of Comic Degeki Daioh. The second season was originally revealed to be in production a few months ago, but after one of those damn cover-ups, has finally been confirmed.

Naked Ape’s Switch manga will be adapted into a theatrical stage show and an anime OVA. More details are expected to be released in October’s issue of the Japanese G Fantasy manga magazine. The popular detective series is expected to begin releasing stateside in March by Viz Media.

The November copy of the Comic RyĆ« Japanese magazine is to include a free DVD of the first Legend of the Galactic Heroes: My Conquest is the Sea of Stars movie. This free DVD marks the 20th anniversary of Yoshiki Tanaka’s science fiction novels. The magazine issue will go on sale September 19.
