  • Pumpkin Scissors Pumpkin Scissors begins in the Royal Empire, a country that has endured a long war with the Republic of Frost, but has just declared a ceasefire. This leaves the country, torn by war, to try and piece itself back together.

Bleach DVD #6 Bleach DVD #6 is the beginning to one of the best story arcs in anime I have ever seen. Unlike most shounen anime, fights in the Bleach Soul Society arc are fast-paced, loaded with substance and never dull.

Hikaru no Go DVD #10 This is a perfect example of an anime I've continuously put off to the side for later, and yet when i finally get aroudn to it I fall in love with the series and beat myself up for not viewing it earlier!

Naruto the Movie DVD The latest mission for our favorite ninja team? Protect and escort a spoiled actress to her next film set. Oh, and keep her from running away of course!

With all the new manga releases this week, I had plenty to choose from. The DVD releases are nothing to snuff at either, with a few large heavy-hitters.

Top DVD Release
Ranma 1/2 Season 2 [ Viz Media ] - This thinpack compilation gains my top DVD pick this week not because I like the series, but rather for the value and ability to bring old fans and new together.

Top Manga Release
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Volume #4 [ Del Rey ] - This overrated, then underrated series slowly approaches conclusion, will it be peace or destruction?

Top New Series
Gon Volume #1 [ CMX ] - Not quite a “new series,” but this simple manga deserves more than it has received. With a little patience, this wordless adventure provides a unique view on life and nature.
